Otter Facts
A group of otters can be called a raft (especially when they are in water, sometimes holding paws or wrapping in seaweed), a romp (for groups on land), a bevy, a family, or a lodge. Other terms include “kennel” and “scrum”.
- Lodge: Also used to describe a group of otters.
- Raft: Used for groups of otters floating together in water. Sea otters will sometimes wrap themselves in seaweed to avoid drifting apart.
- Romp: Describes a group of otters playing on land.
- Bevy: A more general term for a group of otters.
- Family: Refers to a group of related otters.
